The original lodge beside a small ski resort no longer served its purpose, so we looked for a way to breathe new life into it and create a versatile space for gathering, resting and shared activities. The design of the common room draws on the character of the original mountain building, which we wanted to preserve while also lightening it and adapting it to its new use.

The open space links several seating options, a bar and quieter corners. A mobile furniture layout also makes it easy to clear the room and open up a larger area for group, movement or relaxation activities. A double-sided fireplace remains the natural centre of the whole space. Natural materials – wood and stone – play the leading role, complemented by simple furniture, textiles and subtle colour accents.

The result is a warm, flexible space that carries on the atmosphere of a mountain lodge while giving it new ways to be used.
